Over the weekend Irish Sports Daily’s Mike Frank reported the identities of the eight assistant coaches expect to join Tony Alford on Brian Kelly’s initial coaching staff at Notre Dame.

On Tuesday afternoon, Notre Dame Director of Football Communications Brian Hardin tweeted, “I think we'll finally have something to announce on the new ND coaching staff today. It won't be all 8, but looks to be multiple additions.”

The most likely names to be announced today figure to be Mike Denbrock and Chuck Martin.

Denbrock, who coached tackles and tight ends at Notre Dame under Tyrone Willingham, is expected to be back in South Bend in a similar role with Kelly. The exact role could be explained later today. There have been reports that Denbrock has already been hired and is set to visit the parents of blue-chip offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson today in Minnesota.

There have also been reports that Martin, the former Grand Valley State head coach, has already been hired to coach Irish defensive backs and some current Notre Dam recruits have said that it was what Kelly has told them. Also, there have been reports that Grand Valley is set to announce a new head coach sometime soon.

Prospective assistants undergo a rigorous screening process by the University, which is the reason for the delay in the announcements.
