Brian Kelly and his staff have gotten off to a good start when it comes to recruiting wide receivers.  Rising sophomore TJ Jones emerged as a starter during his freshman season and performed well.  Notre Dame is also high on Daniel Smith, although he will have to overcome the injury that cost him this past spring.  The Class of 2011 contained two of the nation’s premier wide receivers in George Atkinson and DaVaris Daniels.  Kelly was hired to win early, win often, and win big.  In order to do that, he must be able to recruit playmakers on a consistent basis.

The Class of 2012 is loaded with talented wide receivers, and Notre Dame is hoping to take advantage of the depth of talent at the position.  Kelly and his staff need to replenish their depth chart at the position.  They are also looking to add more size and playmaking ability to the position.  With the commitment of Justin Ferguson (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Flanagan) the Irish are getting off to a hot start.  Ferguson is one of the top offensive players from the state of Florida.  He has been offered by Florida, Florida State, Central Florida, and Wisconsin.  The ESPN 150 Watch List player racked up 44 catches for 953 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.  His physical style of play will be a nice complement to the explosiveness of his future position mates.
