Through the fall and into the winter, Archbishop Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller quarterback, and Notre Dame verbal commit Andrew Hendrix, will be writing a guest blog for Irish Sports Daily, chronicling his senior season, while also talking about anything else that comes his way.

Hello Notre Dame Fans, and welcome back to my blog!

The Moeller Crusaders continued their undefeated season with a decisive 40-10 victory over a very big, very tough Lakewood St. Edward squad.

Getting up at five in the morning and going on a four-and-a-half hour drive to get to Cleveland for our 2 p.m. game, I was not exactly sure how our team was going to respond. We did with elegance as we came out firing on all cylinders. Our D pitched a shutout till late in the first half, and our O exploded with 24 first-half points.

Again, Eds stacked the box and made us throw the ball, and we were ready for it. Our receivers did a fantastic job of running routes and hauling in balls with the tail on a very windy day. On the day I was 15-of-20 for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns, and I misfired close to the goal line once or twice as well. I also missed on the deep ball once that possibly could have gone for a score. Those are my two biggest things to work on, the deep ball and red-zone passing.

I have been pretty efficient (knock on wood) in not turning the ball over which is imperative to winning ball games. At 9-0, if we want to continue our undefeated season, we will have to keep limiting turnovers, especially this week. This is our senior week versus bitter rival St. Xavier. A week of tradition, with grade school jersey day, last 110-yard sprint, senior dinner, and the painting of our shoes, it is sometimes a week to lose focus. This will not be the case for our team. We are focused, and we know what is on the line. Two nationally ranked teams going at it on Fox Sports Net on Halloween night in front of what we are thinking to be one of the biggest crowds in Moeller vs. X history at UC’s Nippert Stadium. This game is for the league, city, and national title if we run the table. This will be one of the greatest nights of my life.

Notre Dame in another close one…did not see that coming! A battle tested team always wins in these situations. Just like Moeller has had to win in some close ones, Notre Dame is a great team because they win the nail-biters. Boston College is a good football team so this is a quality victory! I don’t know though, I was talking to Coach (Ron) Powlus on the phone and I told him maybe next week vs. Washington State doesn’t HAVE to be a nail-biter! Regardless a win is still a win, and that will never change. ND should keep rolling their way to a BCS game which would be great to see. They have worked hard enough to earn it, and they deserve it. I think they will get it because of the team chemistry they have built. The season will end strongly for the Irish, I know it!

Tune in next week to see how the battle for Cincinnati turned out!

Thanks and Go Irish!
