Here is a look at how Notre Dame’s verbal commits played over the weekend.

Chris Badger: The future Irish safety and his Timpview (Provo, Utah) High (8-2) teammates opened the playoffs with a 35-7 victory over Olympus.

"Timpview has had a lot of great defenses and that gives the team confidence," Badger told the Deseret News. "If the offense is struggling early, they know we have their back. We needed to be physical and that's what we did.

Badger had an interception in the Timpview win.

"This is the playoffs and so you've got to be able to flip the switch and put it in gear. Every game is so important. We've got to get everyone up and ready to go."

Timpview has won three-straight state championships. Badger said he had a bunch of tackles and an interception in the win.

“I took it back 40 yards and then got tripped up, and as I was falling, I lateraled it to a teammate five yards away who was able to score.”

Badger said it was the coolest play of his high school career.

"It definitely could make ESPN's top 10. I broke like three tackles and the pitch looked really cool because no one was expecting it."

Giovanni Bernard: A hamstring injury kept the future Notre Dame running back out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas’ 27-0 shutout of Deerfield Beach. The Raiders improved to 8-0 and are ranked No. 1 in the nation by ESPN Rise.

Spencer Boyd: Cape Coral (Fla.) High (8-0) remained undefeated in a 34-14 rout of Stuart South Fork. Boyd carried 17 times for 120 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Seahawks amass over 300 yards on the ground in the win.

Andrew Hendrix: In front of a crowd of 10,000, the future Irish signal-caller and his Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller (9-1) teammates dropped their first game of the season, a 13-10 defeat to St. Xavier. Hendrix completed just 8-of-17 passes for 81 yards, with one interception late in the game that sealed the win for the Bombers. The Crusaders came into the game ranked No. 21 nationally by ESPN Rise, and St. Xavier was slotted at No. 40.

Toney Hurd: It was a tough season for the future Irish cornerback and his Marshall High (Missouri City, Texas) teammates. The Buffaloes lost 21-20 to Dulles over the weekend, ending the year 1-8. Hurd had two more interceptions, giving him the district lead with six. The future Under Armour All-American also has the most pass breakups in the area.

"They threw the ball my way four times," Hurd said. "I got two picks, one went out of bounds, and the other was too high."

Bennett Jackson: The future Notre Dame receiver caught a screen pass and ran 24 yards for a score, and also kicked a 22-yard field goal, but it wasn’t enough in Raritan (Hazlet, N.J.) High’s (5-2) 28-17 loss to undefeated Manasquan.

Tai-ler Jones: The future Irish receiver and U.S. Under Armour All-American caught three passes for 93 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown in Gainesville (Ga.) High’s (9-0) 63-0 dismantling of Johnson.

Christian Lombard: The future Notre Dame offensive tackle and U.S. Army All-American and his Fremd (Palatine) High (10-0) teammates opened the class 8-A state playoffs with a come-from-behind 22-14 victory over Naperville North. The Vikings trailed 14-0 before going rallying for the win.

"Probably the best defense we've faced all year."

Blake Lueders: The future Irish defensive end and U.S. Army All-American from Zionsville (Ind.) High, saw his season come to a close with a second-round playoff loss to Brownsburg, 20-14. The Eagles end the year 8-2.

Chris Martin: Martin and his Grandview (Aurora, Colo.) High teammates lost their second in a row, a 21-0 defeat to undefeated Mullen, falling to 5-4 heading into the state playoffs.

Kendall Moore: The future Notre Dame linebacker and his Southeast Raleigh (N.C.) High (8-2) teammates dropped their second game in a row, falling to undefeated Harnett Central, 36-22.

Tommy Rees: The future Notre Dame quarterback’s season is complete.

Cameron Roberson: The future Irish running back rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns, helping lead Newbury Park (Calif.) High (6-2) to a 38-10 victory over Agoura.

Prince Shembo: The future Notre Dame linebacker and his Ardrey Kell (Charlotte, N.C.) High (3-6) teammates had a bye week.

Daniel Smith: The future Irish receiver’s season is complete.

Justin Utupo: The future Irish defensive end and the rest of the Lakewood (Calif.) High defense held Millikan to just 121 yards of total offense in an easy 60-7 victory. The Lancers improved to 8-1.

Alex Welch: The future Notre Dame tight end and his Elder High (7-2) teammates won their second in a row, a 42-0 victory over Western Hills to complete the regular season. Welch played just the first half, catching two passes for 35 yards.

Lo Wood: The future Irish cornerback and his Apopka (Fla.) High (7-1) teammates lost their first game of the season, a 22-12 defeat to Olympia. Wood had four tackles and held Northwestern commit Rashad Lawrence to just two catches for 13 yards.
