hendrix andrew 5Through the fall and into the winter, Archbishop Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller quarterback, and Notre Dame verbal commit Andrew Hendrix, will be writing a guest blog for Irish Sports Daily, chronicling his senior season, while also talking about anything else that comes his way.

Hello Notre Dame Fans and welcome back to my blog!

I write this week not sullen but motivated.

In a game where the GCL title, city title, and an undefeated season were all on the line, the Moeller High Fighting Crusaders were handed our first loss of the season to our bitter rivals St. Xavier.

There are plenty of opportunities to point fingers, but our entire team just needs to look in the mirror. As a rule of thumb during practice each week, we tell ourselves to only worry about ourselves because we cannot control the other team.

This week was X week. We focused on X and what X was going to do. During the game it showed and we shot ourselves in the foot numerous times. Giving X all the credit, they played a great game, but it is now playoff time with no time to sulk.

This week we play a Middletown team who is 9-1 and snuck into the playoffs with a week 10 victory. They are very athletic and like last week, if we give them opportunities to beat us, they will.

There are no cupcakes anymore as it's the playoffs. Teams are in it for a reason. We are not down and we are as focused as ever. We have a little frustration to take out on the Middies, and even as a quarterback I plan on trucking one of their linebackers back to the third grade! I am just excited to get back on the field this week and practice as hard as we can as a team, because from here on out it is one and done, and I am NOT ready for my senior season to be over.

Notre Dame had a great game this week! Jimmy continued to do great and Golden Tate had as good a catch as I've ever seen! I also saw that Dayne got hurt, so my prayers are with him. Hopefully it's not bad because he is a great guy and he doesn’t deserve something like that to happen to him! He told me he was doing well when I texted him but I didn’t expect anything other than that! He is always doing well which makes him such a cool dude!

I cannot wait to take my official visit for the banquet and get back up there, it has been too long and I miss everybody, including my boy Mike Golic Jr.!

Next week, hopefully our team will still be in the state title hunt and ND will have another victory over the Navy Midshipmen. Funny thing, both Moeller and Notre Dame play the Middies this week! God Bless to all!

Go Irish!
