ESPNU’s Scouts Inc. released its second set of top-150 rankings for the class-of-2010, and four Notre Dame verbal commits made the list, including a new addition in four-star defensive end Blake Lueders.
Tai-ler Jones (Gainesville, Ga.) remains the Irish’s top-rated recruit, moving up four spots to No. 73 overall. The four-star talent and future Under Armour All-American is also tabbed as the 13th-best receiver in America.
Lueders cracks the top-150 like he does quarterbacks.
Chris Martin (Aurora, Colo.) made a huge jump, going from No. 143 in the first set of rankings, to No. 110. The future U.S. Army All-American is also ranked as the 12th-best defensive end in the country.
Toney Hurd (Missouri City, Texas), has moved up one spot to 119th overall. The future Under Armour All-American is also ranked as the 11th-best cornerback.
Lueders was a guy ESPNU Scouts Inc. liked a lot the first time around, but they didn’t have enough film on the Zionsville (Ind.) High star. Following a nice senior season, the future U.S. Army All-American has cracked the rankings at No. 150.
Quarterback Andrew Hendrix (Cincinnati, Ohio) and running back Giovanni Bernard (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) have retained their four-star status.
Position rankings have also been jumbled.
Hendrix is ranked as the 10th-best signal-caller in the country. Tommy Rees (Lake Forest, Ill.) comes in at No. 37.
Bernard is tabbed as the 16th-best running back, and Cameron Roberson (Newbury Park, Calif.) is ranked at No. 38.
At wide receiver after Jones, Daniel Smith (South Bend, Ind.) is ranked as the 70th-best pass catcher in the country, with Bennett Jackson (Hazlet, N.J.) coming in at No. 93.
Alex Welch (Cincinnati, Ohio) is charted as the 12th-best tight end.
On the offensive line, Christian Lombard (Palatine, Ill.), a future U.S. Army All-American, is ranked as 21st-best offensive tackle.
After Martin and Lueders on the defensive line, Justin Utupo (Lakewood, Calif.) is tabbed as the 68th-best defensive end.
Prince Shembo (Charlotte, N.C.) will play outside linebacker for the Irish, but he is ranked as the 45th-best defensive end in the country. Kendall Moore (Raleigh, N.C.) is tabbed as the 17th-best inside linebacker.
After Hurd, Lo Wood (Apopka, Fla.) is listed as the 28th-best cornerback.
Hendrix remains a top-10 quarterback recruit.
Spencer Boyd (Cape Coral, Fla.) is ranked as the 30th-best athlete, and Chris Badger is listed as the 19th-best safety.
Several Notre Dame targets remain in the top-150, led by offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson (No. 4) and cornerback Lamarcus Joyner (No. 5). Other Irish recruits listed are safety Sean Parker (No. 26), outside linebacker Christian Jones (No. 27), cornerback Joshua Shaw (No. 33), receiver Kyle Prater (No. 43), cornerback Cody Riggs (No. 71), defensive tackle Louis Nix (No. 98), offensive tackle James Stone (No. 99), athlete Anthony Barr (No. 102), safety Dietrich Riley (No. 111), defensive end J.R. Ferguson (No. 138) and offensive tackle Brandon Linder (143).
