hendrix andrew 4Through the fall and into the winter, Archbishop Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller quarterback, and Notre Dame verbal commit Andrew Hendrix, will be writing a guest blog for Irish Sports Daily, chronicling his senior season, while also talking about anything else that comes his way.

Hello Notre Dame Fans and welcome to my blog…again!

Steve Wiltfong and myself thought that it would be a good idea to do one final blog, to clear any sort of confusion and declare my allegiance to the Golden Dome once again.

This has been an absolutely hectic few months for me. When Coach Weis got fired, there was a long period of waiting when some schools contacted me. Most I did not listen to, but one I decided to entertain.

Before ND fired coach Weis, but many believed he was going to get the boot, I was unsure of the direction Notre Dame was going to take their program. I certainly did not want to be left out in the cold, so I started building a relationship with Florida’s coaches. I scheduled a visit and when Coach Kelly was hired, I went up to ND and talked with him for a long while. I really enjoyed visiting with him and discussing his plans for the program, but my Florida visit was scheduled and why not go visit to make sure I am not missing out on anything?

My visit was a blast. The landscape is gorgeous down there, and the football program is phenomenal. It has a lot of draw for someone looking for a big school and dreams of the next level.

Leaving Florida, it looked to be set. I decided to let the wine and dine wear off a little, and when I was ready to pull the trigger, I couldn’t. My head was screaming Florida, but my gut was twisted.

It was Notre Dame that was keeping me from heading to Gainesville. It was the people; Dayne Crist and Kyle Rudolph, and even big ol Mike Golic Jr! I thought about the Basilica and The Grotto, and Touchdown Jesus. Florida’s campus was beautiful, but Notre Dame’s campus is unlike anything I've ever seen in my life. My gut got it started, but when I got to thinking, my head started to follow. Coach Kelly has a staff that I know and like. It is a very good staff and Kelly himself is a proven winner. He runs an offense I know I can develop and prosper in, and most of all have fun in. I get to compete and play with one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Dayne Crist, and play with guys just like me.

I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again, Notre Dame is the best place for me academically, athletically, and spiritually, I just wanted to make sure that is what I wanted. And it is. No doubt! It is the best University on the face of this planet, and I am so proud to be a part of it. Like coach Kelly always says, let’s go win a championship! Go Irish!

100% Devoted and Commited (sorry I kept you on the edge of your seats lol),
