Russell Receives Visit From ND

Notre Dame assistant Mike Denbrock was limited from speaking directly with KeiVarae Russell when the Irish’s West Coast recruiter visited Mariner High School in Everett, Wash., on Monday, but Denbrock was able to make some serious points for the athlete through his high school head coach.

“What I got from my coach is that they’re the number one business school in the nation, that was kind of intriguing to hear,” said Russell, who plans to major in business. “Also, that they graduate 99 percent of their football players and that was crazy. When I heard that, that opened my eyes, I was like, ‘Damn, 99 percent? That’s crazy.’ They have an average team GPA of 3.0, so that was crazy man. I was like, ‘Woo, I like that.’”

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Russell also likes Denbrock, calling him, “my man.” Denbrock told Russell he was going to back to check in with him again, but Russell wasn’t exactly sure when.
