With Notre Dame still in the search for running backs in the 2012 class, they have already given out many verbal offersto some of the top recruits in the nation. Though they have yet to receive a running back commitment, the Irish have refused to stop targeting ball carriers and were recently in Fresno, California to check back in on one they’re highly considering, San Joaquin Memorial's Chris Brown.

“They were at my school a few weeks ago to check in on me and talk to my coach,” said Brown. “Even though I wasn't allowed to talk to them because the NCAA doesn't allow it, they told my coach that they're still very interested and are evaluating me further.”

The 6-foot, 190-pound back was a terror on the field last season for San Joaquin as he rushed for 1,884 yards with 21 touchdowns, and the year before that he rushed for 1,186 yards with 16 touchdowns.

Needless to say his production speaks for itself.

“I would say that I prefer to run north and south,” said the San Joaquin star. “I don’t like to run sideways a lot if I can help it. I will if I have to, but going between the tackles in my type of running. It just doesn't matter, I'll do whatever is needed to get the win for my team.”

Brown has already amassed close to 15 offers from schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Missouri, Oregon State, Purdue, UNLV, Utah and Washington State and even though the Irish have yet to offer him, it's a school that has really caught his attention.

“I'm still very much interested in Notre Dame and what they have to offer,” claimed the talented running back. “Getting a diploma from there would be a huge accomplishment for me and a degree like that would help me for the rest of my life.”

With school just getting out for summer and plans starting to be made for recruiting visits, Brown will have his work cut out for him in terms of seeing all the places he wants to see, but he knows South Bend is one of those that will take priority.

“I am hoping to visit them this summer, but I haven’t planned out all my unofficial visits yet,” said the three-star prospect. “I do know that they'll definitely be one of the first on my list to receive a visit.”

While he's waiting to see what Notre Dame is going to do, Brown feels no need to end his recruitment anytime soon.

“I haven’t really decided when I'm going to narrow down my list yet,” he said. “I’m still doing my research on all these schools and I don't see myself making a decision for quite a while.”
