Adam Bisnowaty knew Notre Dame was a school steeped in tradition, but on Thursday, he got to see it for himself.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive lineman from Pittsburgh (Fox Chapel Area) is in the midst of a Midwestern tour and Irish Sports Daily caught up with him on his way from South Bend to Purdue.

“It was pretty good,” Bisnowaty said of his Notre Dame visit. “I spent a short time there, but it was good. We got to talk to an academic guy named Adam and some assistant coaches. We saw facilities, so it was pretty nice.”

Bisnowaty was only on campus for a couple of hours, but enjoyed himself.

“It was a beautiful campus,” he said. “The tradition is still there. It was my first time there. You can tell from everyone who’s gone there, it was like that before. It hasn’t changed.”

He was able to have brief conversations with some of the coaches on the Notre Dame staff, including offensive line coach Ed Warinner.

“Normal hello and that’s about it really,” he said. “(Warinner) was a pretty nice guy. I liked him a lot.”

The Irish are interested in Bisnowaty, but said they have to wait on a couple of other linemen they have ranked higher before being able to extend an offer.

“They’re just waiting to see who they can sign and they’re just going to take the process a little bit longer and go from there,” said Bisnowaty.

Bisnowaty isn’t ready to give up on the Irish, though.

“It’s a nice school,” Bisnowaty said. “I’ve still got to look into more and take it from there.”

He traveled to South Bend after visiting Michigan and Michigan State on Wednesday, two schools he does hold offers from.

“Michigan was a nice school,” he said. “The facilities are amazing. There are nice guys there, nice coaches. I met some players and they’re nice guys as well.

“Michigan State is the same thing. They have good coaches and good people and the academics and everything is really nice.”

Bisnowaty also has an offer from Purdue. He’ll check out Cincinnati on Friday before returning home. He doesn’t have an offer from the Bearcats yet, but they could join Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Virginia and West Virginia on his offer list before the weekend.
