Antwuan Davis has an impressive early offer sheet and it improved late last week when the 6-foot, 180-pound cornerback from Bastrop High School in Bastrop, Texas added Notre Dame to it.

Davis now has offers from the Irish along with schools like Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Baylor, Ole Miss, SMU and TCU.

Notre Dame co-defensive coordinator Kerry Cooks extended the offer to Davis on Friday.

“I talked to the coach and he told me I had a good chance of starting for four years,” said Davis. “It sounded good. I know Notre Dame is a good school.”

Davis possesses 4.3-speed, but that wasn’t the attribute that Cooks stressed during his conversation.

“He said they liked my physicality and regardless of what happens, you’re going to have to know all of your coverages to go to the NFL,” recounted Davis. “He said he’s been there, so he knows how to do that.

“They say I’m physical, that’s mostly what they say. They say I’m just a good athlete.”

Davis has been aware of the Irish for some time.

“I know Notre Dame is doing big things,” he said. “I would always watch Notre Dame.”

But he doesn’t know if he’ll have the chance to make it out to South Bend to see for himself.

“I’m not sure yet,” he said. “I’ll have to see what my schedule is.”

He has been able to get to one in-state school recently and is looking to get to another national power soon.

“I checked out A&M this past Saturday and I might go to LSU later,” he said. “A&M was cool, I had a good time there.”

Davis already has a few early favorites.

“I like a lot of schools, but my top schools are Baylor, TCU, A&M and LSU,” he said. “I know once I get talking to Alabama, they might be in the mix.”

Davis has a few things he’ll be looking for in a school.

“How would I play in their defense and if I would be able to help all four years,” he said. “I don’t want to go too far away from home.”

Davis isn’t sure if South Bend is too far away from home.

“It might be cutting it close, but it might be an exception,” he said.

Davis is planning to make a commitment in the next few months.

“I’ll make my decision before football season next year, so probably right after spring ball or before July.”
