You could say that 2014 offensive line prospect Steven Moss (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) was just a bit surprised when Notre Dame informed him of their interest in him visiting campus this past weekend, but this was definitely an opportunity he wasn't going to pass up.

“I thought it was a really beautiful campus and I really like the tradition they got going on up there,” said Moss. “I didn't know that they take the old gold off the dome and actually use it on the player’s helmets. That's really cool and I didn't know anything about that. This was the first time I'd been to Notre Dame and I really enjoyed it.”

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound lineman currently has over 10 offers from some nice programs like Boston College, Clemson, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

Though he wouldn't receive an offer from the Irish on his visit to South Bend, Moss would receive confirmation that Notre Dame definitely has him in their sights for their 2014 class.

“They told the few of us that were there that clearly we were there by design,” he shared. “I had a chance to talk to pretty much all the coaches and they basically told me to keep in touch and said, ‘If we didn't want you, we wouldn’t have had you come up here.’

The Chancellor standout helped lead the Chargers to an 8-3 record this past season. Despite coming up a bit short in the playoffs, the talented lineman seemed to dominate his competition all year long.

“I thought I had a pretty good overall season,” claimed Moss. “I didn't give up any sacks last year and that was my personal goal. I just like running people down the field and then running them into the ground. I really do love run blocking.”

With already a great list of collegiate offers in the fold, the Virginia product has already begun to decide what he'll be looking for when he starts comparing universities.

“I'm going to be looking for a college that focuses on academics,” he explained. “They'll have to also have my major, but I'm not sure what I want to major in yet. I'm also going to be looking at whether they have a program that's on the rise and what type of coaching staff they have.”

Now that the feeling out process has begun between Moss and the Irish, it looks as though the junior will be waiting to see what Notre Dame's next step will be in his recruiting.

“I definitely hope to take another visit to Notre Dame, but I would also like an offer from them as well. I don't see why I wouldn't take another visit up there sometime next year, but an offer will play a big factor in that.”
