The surprise may have been lightened a bit in the final day, but the impact is still a huge one.
Eddie Vanderdoes just brought Notre Dame’s 2013 recruiting efforts to a thunderous close by announcing his commitment to the Irish during a press conference Wednesday night. Notre Dame had already inked 23 prospects earlier on National Signing Day and the 6-foot-2, 305-pound California defensive lineman is a big-time addition at 24.
The consensus five-star prospect had been committed to USC, but backed off that pledge in December and ended up taking official visits to UCLA, USC, Notre Dame and Alabama.
He went into a media blackout in the final weeks, but momentum started swinging in Notre Dame’s favor the night before signing day and continued on Wednesday.
We’ll have much more on Vanderdoes’ commitment soon, but you can read Sean Mele's breakdown here.
