Frank Ragnow has a pair of BCS offers already and they’re both special to the 2014 Minnesota offensive lineman.
“I have offers from Florida State and Minnesota,” the 6-foot-6, 285-pounder from Victoria, Minn., and Chanhassen High School said.
Ragnow landed the offer from the in-state Gophers at their camp last summer.
“It was really exciting,” he said. “It was kind of surprising, I was pretty pumped. I was kind of just in awe. I wasn’t expecting an offer at all. It was the first camp I’ve ever attended. I wasn’t really in the recruiting process and walking away with an offer was pretty cool.”
The Seminoles offer came earlier this month.
“That was even more surprising,” he said. “I hadn’t talked to them at all before. I woke up one morning to a direct message on Twitter from the offensive line coach, Rick Trickett, telling me to call him as soon as possible. He said they were just blown away by my film and wanted to offer me.”
Other schools have also shown a lot of interest.
“I’d say Wisconsin is showing a lot of interest, Nebraska is showing a lot of interest and Iowa State and Ohio State,” he said. “I think those schools are showing the most interest right now.
“They always say toughness and finishing ability. They say they like how I finish every block and they like my feet.”
Ragnow will be joining a group of Minnesota prospects, including 2015 defensive end/linebacker Jashon Cornell, traveling to the adidas Invitational in Michigan this weekend. They’ll be hitting a few schools during the trip.
“I’m not quite sure what the plan is,” Ragnow admitted. “We’re stopping at Northwestern first and then we’re stopping at Notre Dame. I think it might be Saturday, but I’m not sure.”
It’ll be Ragnow’s first trip to South Bend and he’s looking forward to it.
“Oh yeah, I’m very, very excited,” he said. “Notre Dame has always been one of my favorite schools. Just the tradition, everything, the colors, the campus, Rudy, everything.”
