George Brown Jr. has really seen his recruitment take off in recent weeks.
The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder from Cincinnati’s Colerain High School picked up offers from Louisville, Indiana, Clemson and Kansas State at the end of March before adding Baylor, Arizona State and Boston College at the beginning of April. He received three more offers just last week.
“I just got three offers from Akron, Kent State and Florida,” said Brown Jr. “It’s definitely a blessing, but you just have to stay humble and keep working hard.”
Brown Jr. is currently sitting on 16 offers.
“It’s a great honor,” he said. “I’m just focusing on getting stronger and getting my speed quicker.”
The 2015 prospect possesses the versatility to play a number of positions on the next level.
“Some coaches think I can play tight end, some think I can play defensive end, but most of them are as offensive tackle,” he said. “It doesn’t matter to me. I’ll play both sides of the ball, it doesn’t matter to me.
“My dad has his own indoor training facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. I work out with him a lot and at school, Colerain High School, we work out and lift a lot. I think that helps me a lot.”
Brown Jr. will get his first look at Notre Dame this weekend.
“I got invited to Tom Lemming’s Junior All-American Team, so we have to go out to Notre Dame and everything,” he said. “I should be there for the spring game.
“I just want to see how the coaches coach and get a feel for the coaches.”
Brown Jr. has been in touch with a couple Irish coaches already.
“I talked to Coach (Tony) Alford and Coach (Mike) Elston before,” he said. “They said they like my highlights and they’re really interested in me.”
It’s still very early in the process for Brown Jr., but he has an idea of what he’s looking for in a college already.
“I’m looking for good academics and how the coaches coach the players and seeing if they’re good coaches.”
