The offensive line dominos are falling as Notre Dame picks up another verbal commitment from New Jersey tackle Quenton Nelson. This marks the third offensive line commit from the class of 2014 and applies a bit of pressure on the uncommitted prospects as the Irish will take one, or perhaps two more big boys up front before it’s all said and done. First things first though, as we take a look at what we can expect from Nelson when he arrives in South Bend next year.
What Quenton Nelson Brings To The Irish
Nelson Makes Special Choice
Notre Dame had been at the top of Quenton Nelson’s list since the 2014 New Jersey offensive lineman visited South Bend last month.
He almost brought the process to a close during that trip, but decided to wait. The Irish didn’t have to wait too long though as the 6-foot-5, 290-pounder announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Twitter Wednesday evening.
Nelson’s coach at Red Bank Catholic High School, Jim Portela, confirmed the news with Irish Sports Daily.
“It’s an exciting night for Quenton and his family,” Portela said. “He’s spinning like a top. He’s as excited as can be.
“I asked him if he was sure it was what he wanted to do and he said, ‘100 percent.’ He sounded so excited and I knew it was the right thing.”

Irish In Touch With Michigan DE
Lawrence Marshall is planning to announce his favorites this week with a decision likely to follow relatively soon thereafter and Notre Dame may be getting into the mix with the 2014 Michigan defensive end just in time.
Irish assistant Chuck Martin was at Southfield High School in Southfield, Mich., last week to check on the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder.
“I talked to him on the phone that night,” Marshall said of Martin. “He said they really like me. They’re probably going to offer me soon and just to keep my grades up and stuff like that.
