When the dominos fall, they fall fast. Alex Bars represents the fourth offensive lineman from the class of 2014 to verbally commit to Notre Dame. He follows in his father’s footsteps as well as future offensive line teammates Jimmy Byrne, Sam Mustipher, and Quenton Nelson. Bars’ pledge to head coach Brian Kelly marks the seventh offensive player from his class to commit to be Irish and the 10th overall.

How Good Is Kyle Allen?
It didn’t take Dennis Gile very long to recognize the potential of newest pupil when Kyle Allen started working out with the Arizona-based quarterback coach two years ago.
“After two weeks with him, I told his dad, ‘I will make your son the number one quarterback in the country,’” Giles said of the 2014 quarterback from Scottsdale’s Desert Mountain High School.
“I said, ‘Mark my words, I will make your son the number one quarterback in the country.’ He just kind of looked at me and kind of giggled.”
Nobody is giggling anymore as Allen will enter his senior season ranked as the nation’s top prep quarterback by at least one scouting service. He’s seen an already heavy recruitment explode in recent months and currently holds offers from major programs across the country including Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State and UCLA along with Arizona and Arizona State among several others.
ND Keeps Tabs On Elite LB
The hallways of Liberty County High School in Hinesville, Ga., have been packed with college recruiters for the last month thanks to 2014 linebacker Raekwon McMillan.
“It’s been a blessing,” Liberty County head coach Kirk Warner said. “We’ve been taking it in stride. Of course, it’s a little bit unusual for around here.
“We’ve had a couple D-I guys in the past, but not at this particular level. It definitely has its positives. We’re getting a lot more of our young kids looked at. They’re drawing interest from some of these guys that is going to follow them, so it’s definitely been a blessing for us.”
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound McMillan is one of the most sought-after linebacker prospects in the Class of 2014 with offers from Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, Oregon, USC and UCLA among several others.
