AndrewWilliams2Like almost every other major FBS program, Notre Dame depends upon high school pipelines to keep their football team stocked with top level talent. Unlike other programs, Notre Dame’s pipelines are national, not local or regional. One state that has been very good to the Irish the last few years has been the state of Georgia. Last week Irish Sports Daily spoke to Notre Dame's biggest target in the state of Georgia for 2014. What have you been missing by not being a member of Irish Sports Daily?

Andrew Williams DE, 6-4, 245, Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy, McDonough, GA is one of the most heavily recruited prospects in the nation. He currently holds over forty scholarship offers from schools such as Notre Dame, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina and USC. For Williams, the journey to this place has been an unlikely one at best.

KennyYoungUAHeadKenny Young has seen his recruitment explode in recent months. The 2014 linebacker from Louisiana entered January with just one offer, but four months later has more than 20.

“It’s been good,” said the 6-foot-2, 215-pounder from powerhouse John Curtis Christian School in River Ridge, La.

Young, who missed his sophomore season with a leg injury, can now count Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee and UCLA among several others on his offer sheet.

“It’s just a blessing to get all of these offers,” he said. “Coming off an injury, I thought it would be hard for me, but I fought through it and God gave me what I wanted.

But Irish fans shouldn’t worry too much as the Cretin Derham Hall standout expects to return to South Bend again.

“I’ll probably come down with James (Onwualu) some time,” the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder said of the Irish early enrollee and former Cretin Derham star.

QuentonNelsonND1Brian Kelly is going to be making Quenton Nelson sweat for years, so Nelson took advantage of his chance to make the Notre Dame head coach sweat before offering his commitment to the Irish on Wednesday evening.

The 2014 New Jersey offensive lineman knew he was going to give his pledge to Notre Dame before Kelly made the one phone call to Nelson he’s allowed during the evaluation period per NCAA rules.

“I made him sweat it out for a while,” the 6-foot-5, 290-pound Nelson laughed.

“He was like, ‘So, where are you in the process?’ I said, ‘I just need a little more time.’ He said, ‘You take all of the time you want. We’re going to wait for you until February.’”
